ORLANDO, Fla. –June 21, 2010 – XOS Digital, Inc., the leading provider of content management solutions and digital media services for collegiate and professional sports organizations, today announced that the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) will implement the company’s high-definition (HD) instant replay system for this upcoming football season. The announcement was made today by Mark Hudgins, Integrated Solutions Group president, XOS Digital.

“Our team’s instant replay experts understand the meticulous nature of officiating and have a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges associated with it,” Hudgins said. “This insight has enabled us to develop XOS HD Replay to ensure a superior level of accuracy and precision for play review. As a result, the WAC’s officials can access the best video quality possible from a system using an uncompressed video format.”

All nine member schools within the WAC will use the XOS HD Replay system during the upcoming football season for select home games, should they be broadcast in HD. The WAC’s new instant replay system will use a post-production grade video quality for playback. Since this format requires zero processing, it will provide WAC officials with a clearer view of a play in question than what fans see at home.

According to Hudgins, the system features a variety of tools to facilitate efficiency within the officiating process, including a touch-screen interface and jog shuttle controls for the replay official. Data entry and management tools also are included, enabling a team to record information such as time, down, distance and possession. In addition, the system provides custom reporting for all plays, foul plays, significant plays and reviewed plays, and allows video association through a compressed format.

“The WAC is a highly competitive conference that takes the technology behind its officiating processes seriously,” said Karl Benson, WAC commissioner. “The efficiency we’ve experienced from using XOS Replay for basketball contributed to our decision to incorporate its HD version into our football program. By becoming HD-ready, we’re empowering our officials to make the most accurate calls through access to the highest quality video available on the market today.”

Nearly 125 sports teams within football, basketball and hockey use XOS Replay. XOS currently provides HD football instant replay to the Southeastern Conference, the Big 12 Conference and now the Western Athletic Conference. In addition, the company provides standard definition football instant replay systems to Conference USA and the Sun Belt Conference. For basketball, it provides standard definition instant replay systems to the Mid-American, Sun Belt and Western Athletic conferences. For hockey, it provides standard definition instant replay systems to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and numerous other hockey organizations.
