2010 BILLY VIZZINI SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

The CSVA Executive Committee is pleased to announce the third annual Billy Vizzini CSVA Conference Scholarship winner.  Myriah Hisam was selected by submitting an essay of 250 words that explains the circumstances for the need of the scholarship and why she was the most deserving candidate.  The scholarship will provide hotel stay and conference membership.

The Collegiate Sports Video Association would like to thank Gene Smith, General Manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the National Football League Video Directors for their generosity and continued support of the CSVA to make this scholarship possible.

Here is her essay:

I have been an active member of CSVA for two years and have attended the conference both years, gaining a vast amount of knowledge and networking.  In the past, my superiors and coworkers have made it financially feasible to attend the conference, but this year’s budget cuts have altered this year’s plans, making the Billy Vizzini Scholarship of utmost importance.

If I were awarded the 2010 Scholarship, the financial aid would make it possible for myself as well as others to attend this year’s conference.  Getting a first-hand experience in the exchange of information and technological innovations as well as the advancement of ethical procedures and quality techniques is something that I feel I can get only from attending CSVA.

I will graduate from Marshall University in May with an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism. I have spent the past four years learning from one of the best in the field, Brad Helton, and plan to continue my education and time with him through graduate school. A few years ago when Billy passed, I did not understand the relationship my boss had with his former coworker. Since that time I have begun to realize the bond that this field can bring to a person and the opportunities it presents to share the wealth of knowledge learned from the best.

In a few short years, I will be entering the field fresh out of graduate school and I feel that now is the time to make those relationships that will be most beneficial in my education. Receiving this scholarship will provide me with the resources I need to continue expanding my knowledge from the best in the field.

Congratulations to Myriah, the 2010 CSVA Billy V Scholarship winner.
