CSVA INTEROP INVITATION

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to propose the formation of a .org for the SportsVideo Interoperability group that would be managed in a round robin style by the vendors and CSVA and the NFL and funded by the CSVA and the NFL. There are many reasons for formalizing this group including:
• Insure the future of the standard
• Insure that the specification continues to grow as deemed by the constituents
• Insure that the rules related to becoming a member are clearly defined
• Insure that the rules related to acquiring the specification are also clearly defined
• If it is the intent to have this become a true standard accepted in the industry as a SMPTE standard for example, it will be critical to have a .org setup
The vendors currently on the committee have done the work to begin the work for interoperability by adopting the MXF standard. To secure that there will be a future for this effort, the group needs to be formalized and that will require funding. It is the intent of this document to lay out some of the needs in terms of what it will take to create and ultimately run this as an organization.
